Automotive Injection Molding

Chemtech Plastics has been a major supplier of precision injection molded components to the automotive industry for over 30 years. We believe in early supplier involvement, specifically collaboration in the design phase, which allows us to ensure the manufacturability of cost-effective components and assemblies.

Our fully integrated Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) development process is supported by cross-functional teams with the right blend of expertise to guarantee a successful launch of each program. We have built Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) documentation into our workflow, and we consistently upgrade our molding equipment to the newest technologies.

Tight tolerances are our specialty. Our molding capabilities allow us to manufacture high-precision components with superior quality aesthetics. We apply automation strategies to ensure uniform, consistent results and have extensive expertise with modern automotive plastics and composites that provide strength and resistance in interior, exterior, and under-the-hood applications. Some of the materials we work with include long fiber-reinforced thermoplastics (LFRTs), glass-filled resins, acetal, and more.

Automotive Components

We produce components with Class A surfaces and mechanical components, as well as mission-critical parts within electronic distribution systems; components for the emission-free mobility and autonomous automobile industries; products within lithium-ion batteries for hybrid and electric vehicles; and parts for occupant protection and advanced driving assistance systems.

Two-shot (2K) housing cover

An example of automotive precision molding produced by Chemtech is this two-shot (2K) housing cover for the accelerator pedal for the throttle-by-wire system found on multiple vehicle platforms.

Junction and relay boxes

The main junction and relay boxes used in automotive applications have special requirements for injection molding. These parts pose many challenges, both from the molding perspective, as well as the mold construction and maintenance intervals.
