June 2008: New Warehouse Facility

Chemtech Plastics has acquired an additional 10,000 square feet of warehouse space strategically located directly across the street. This additional space will allow us to further expand our 5's and lean manufacturing activities.

Product produced in our main facility will be transported to the new warehouse where all shipping activities will be performed utilizing the same technology as our current facility.

Chemtech will also be able to purchase raw material in larger quantities to allow us to be more competitive with our pricing.

March 2008: Arburg Two Shot Press

Chemtech Plastics, Inc. has most recently added 2-shot molding capability to its line-up. This 350 ton molding machine differs from most 2-shot injection presses by accommodating a rotating center plate.

Most 2-shot molding machines rely on either a rotating press platen or a rotating mechanism built into the mold. This type of scenario only allow for interchangeable cavity portions with parts remaining on common core details. Chemtech has the ability to interchange both cavity steel and some core steel.

We are current molding a structural part with a TPE seal on both sides of the part. 2-shot technology is used to produce plastic products in multiple colors or different resins. Many applications today involve the addition of seals or soft touch surfaces. We are excited about the new technology and feel it is a great complement to our current insert molding capability.

January 2008: Quality Department Goes Paperless

The quality department started the new year by going live with their new ASI DataMyte system Quantum SPC/DC. Previously, inspectors collected parts hourly on the floor and returned to the lab to complete their analysis. Then inspection data was recorded on paper IAS records.

This software allows inspectors to remain on the floor while inspecting parts, which saves transit time to and from the production area. It allows them to interact more with operators and quickly identify potential issues. All inspection data is entered real time into the software using Panasonic ToughBooks. This eliminates the risk of paperwork being illegible and keyboarding time.

Inside the ASI DataMyte software, each part that is manufactured at Chemtech has a unique set of criteria to be inspected based on the control plan. The system has been setup to require all key data be entered and will ask for additional information if data is not within specification. The system also allows inspectors and management to easily query the database to track critical defects and promptly institute remedial measures.

This system was implemented as part of Chemtech's commitment to continual improvement in quality and efficiency.

December 2007: New Vision System Purchased

A new RAM Sprint CNC 300 was added to the quality lab. This new system is fully automated, complete with Y14.5 compliant measurement software and integrated electronics and VectorLight ring lighting. It will allow our quality department increased capability including measurement of larger parts and utilize CAD models.

January, 2007: This year Chemtech Plastics celebrates it's 25th anniversary. We would like to thank all of our business partners and associates for their support, dedication, and for truly making this possible.

April 25, 2006: Made2Manage Systems Honors Chemtech Plastics, Inc. for Achievements Using Plastics-Specific Software.

Made2Manage Systems, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and a broad range of services for manufacturers, and Chemtech Plastics, Inc. (Chemtech), an Elgin, Il based injection molder, announced Chemtech's acceptance of the software provider's 2006 Best Overall Use of The Manufacturing Manager award.

The Best Overall Use of The Manufacturing Manager award, part of Made2Manage Systems' Summit Awards, typically recognizes a Made2Manage Systems customer that has demonstrated excellence in utilizing multiple applications across The Manufacturing manager (TMM). Recipients of the award demonstrate a clear return on their investment in products and services, such as steady business growth, improved operational performance, and new business opportunities. Chemtech will receive the award this afternoon at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Denver during Made2Manage Systems' premier customer conference, Made2Manage Connect 2006.

April 4, 2006: Chemtech Plastics increased our quality measurement capabilities by purchasing and installing a 2nd Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). This new CMM is a Brown & Sharpe Global Image 575 Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) with PC-DMIS CAD++ Software. This machine will provide our customers with the following benefits:

1) Perform in-house measurements of detailed profiles & other complex geometric tolerancing for layout/PPAP or development support purposes.

2) Perform detailed scans of part surface using a stitch contact method over a specified distance interval along the length of the part or detail to determine topographic view of part surface condition.

3) Fully programmable measurement for layout/PPAP to result in repeatable measurement with fully articulated probe-head (automatically moveable).

4) More efficient/rapid performance of capability studies for PPAP due to programmed/automated measurement.

5) Off-line programming against CAD model for faster output of layout results as sample parts are not needed to program the measurement.

6) Eventually expand in-process inspection capabilities to more pertinent dimensions at an efficient rate and repeatability.
